The power breakdown complaints were also received from many parts of districts west, centre and east where people spent sleepless nights.
The power breakdown in the affected areas was not without the shortage of water, as motor pumps could not operate for want of electric supply.
KESC sources said that load increase was the main reason for the suspension of power supply in many areas.
They said that the consumers had been advised to reduce load by switching off the unnecessary bulbs and minimising use of airconditioners but in vain.
They said that despite actions against kunda users there were still illegal connections that had put extra load on the power supply.
Sources said that about 40 percent leakage out of the total output was enough to put legal users under extreme trouble.
KESC sources however, conceded that complaint centres were not as efficient as they should have been. However, efforts were being taken to improve their working.
Consumers who contacted Business Recorder said that it had become a routine with the utility to disconnect power supply to legal users instead of taking action against kunda users.
They said that the hilly area around North Nazimabad stretching up to Qasba Colony and Manghopir area was infested with kunda.
They said that such a big-scale kunda connection was not without the connivance of the KESC.
